Policy Development Fellowship Program 2007-2008

Open Society Fund BiH launched the “Policy Development Fellowship Program" in early 2004 with the aim to strengthen the domestic policy community in BiH. The main goal of the Program is to improve BiH policy research and dialogue and to contribute to the development of a sound policy-making culture based on informative and empirically grounded policy options.

Adnan Efendić

Adnan Efendić was born on 04th January 1978. He graduated at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo with outstanding results and was awarded as one of the best students of human sciences in BH. He completed his Master thesis at the Faculty of Econom-ics in Sarajevo in 2004. His scientific-research work is based in fields of Macroeco-nomics, European economy, and Institutional Economics. He finished number of special-izations at European universi-ties, published 19 papers in domestic and foreign publica-tions, and had presentations at 7 international conferences. Currently, he is doing PhD dissertation from the field of Institutional Economics at the Staffordshire University in the UK. He works as the senior teaching assistant at the School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo.

Aida Vežić

Aida Vežić is employed in nongovern-mental organization “Associa-tion for Democratic Initiative Sarajevo“ which serves as the Secretariat of the Balkan Human Rights Network since 2000. She finished Faculty of Economics at the University of Sarajevo and a number of specialized trainings and courses in the areas of project management, logical frame-work approach, strategic planning, preparation of the financial strategy, human resources management and development, facilitation of the meetings and many other related areas. She teaches module Project Manage-ment as a part of “Publikum - PR Development“ school of Media Centre Sarajevo. She is member of the „Committee for Civil Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina“.

Amer Džihana

Amer Džihana holds MA degree in commu-nication/journalism from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo (2005). Currently, he is working as a analyst and coordinator of research programme at Mediacentar Sarajevo. He published several articles about Digitisation of television, Freedom on Ac-cess to Information Act and Public Service Broadcasting. His research interests include: public service broadcasting, media and conflict, relations between media policy and public life.

Denisa Sarajlić-Maglić

Denisa Sarajlić-Maglić currently works as a Policy Di-rector on the Sida/USAID/EKN funded Governance Account-ability Project (GAP) for Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is also a founding member and member of the board of the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI). FPI is an independent NGO dedicated to advance and influence the de-bate and discussion about the changing nature and conduct of foreign affairs, diplomacy, and European integrations, and to increase general understanding about the nature of the reform process in BiH. Over the past twelve years, Denisa Sarajlic-Maglic has worked with a number of international organizations, including IFES, NDI, OSCE, and OHR where she worked as a Political Advisor. Between 2001 and 2003, Ms. Sarajlic-Maglic worked as an Advisor to the Foreign Minister of BiH. Denisa Sarajlic-Maglic obtained a Degree of Master of Arts with a Distinction in Diplomatic Studies at the University of Westminster, London (1999); and Bachelor of Arts with Hon-ours in Politics at the University of Wolverhampton (1998). She is currently a part-time PhD candidate at the University of Bath, conducting research on the impact of EU policies on the system of values and democra-tization process in BiH.

Dragan Ivanović

Dragan Ivanović was born on April 13, 1970 in Sarajevo. He received his MSc and BSc degrees from the University of Sarajvo, School of Electric Engineering, De-partment of Computer Science and Information Systems. Between 1994 and 1997, he worked as an associate at the Sarajevo office of Instituto de Europa Oriental, University Complutense, Madrid. Be-tween 1997 and 2006, he was elected to duties of munici-pal councellor in Sarajevo’s central municipality, represen-tative in Sarajevo’s cantonal assembly ,and in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH. In 2001 and 2002, he worked as foreign policy advisor to the Presidency of BiH. Since 2006, he directs reasearch at the Center for Policy Research and Develop-ment, a young NGO located in Sarajevo.

Milena Kozomara

Milena Kozomara holds a Master’s degree in International Environmental Policy from the Monterey Institute of International Stud-ies, United States of America. During the past years, she worked within numerous environmental projects in BiH and Serbia financed and implemented by international organizations, including align-ing to EU standards, biodiver-sity protection and climate change. Since 2005, she has been working with UNDP on energy and environmental projects.

Naida Čaršimamović

Naida Čaršimamović was born in Sarajevo on September 11th, 1980. After graduating from The Third Grammar School in Sarajevo, she continued her studies in the United Stated, where she earned her Bachelors degrees in Economics and Political Science from Furman University in 2003. In 2005, she graduated from Crummer Graduate School at Rollins University with Master degree in Finance. During her post-graduate studies she also held a post as a teaching assistant for Finance Faculty.Upon her return to Bosnia and Herzegovina, she worked as an Expert Adviser for Public Finance in Directorate for Economic Planning of the Council of Ministers of BiH (which was partially finance by the European Commission) from June 2005 to June 2007. Since July 2007 she has been working as an Adviser for Budget of Institutions of BiH on the Project for Strehgth-ening Public Expenditure Management in Bosnia and Herzegovina, financed by Department for International Development of the United Kingdom Government.

Nina Karađinović

Nina Karađinović has worked as a consultant in the field of rule of law for four years. Some of her clients have been the Canadian Inter-national Development Agency, the Swedish International Development Agency, the European Commission, British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as well as a number of Bosnian institutions, such as the High Judicial and Pros-ecutorial Council, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She specializes in analysis and research in the fields of justice and security. She holds a Masters degree in European Studies. Samra Šuškić-Bašić

For the last ten years, Samra Šuškić-Bašić has been actively participating in key government reform initiatives focused on capac-ity development and strengthening governance arrangements in BiH. She worked for the U.S. Treasury Department for Technical Assis-tance in the initial stages of public budgeting and accounting reforms for the entity and State of BiH levels of government. In the period of her work with the U.S. Treasury she ac-tively participated in the drafting of organic budget laws, treasury laws, public accounting laws and chart of accounts and accounting rulebooks for State and entity government, and also assisted in strengthening coordination and cooperation with lower level governments in BiH. Through her subsequent engage-ment with the USAID Public Sector Accounting Project she assisted in the implementation of treasury and accounting information systems in the cantons of the Federation of BiH. Since 2003 Ms. Šuškić-Bašić has either worked directly with or has provided training for executive and legislative bodies in BiH in the areas of policy analysis and devel-opment and institutional and sector-wide strategic planning. A large portion of these capacity building efforts have been geared towards strengthening governance arrange-ments and the cooperation between levels of government in BiH. Ms. Šuškić-Bašić holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting cum laude from the University of Maryland University College and is currently completing her Masters of Science degree in Finance and Controlling with the Swiss Management Center based in Zug, Switzerland. She currently works as a consultant for the Sarajevo-based public sector consultancy firm Lucid Linx d.o.o. Ms. Šuškić-Bašić was born in Zenica, August 5th 1977 and currently resides in Sarajevo.

Sanel Huskić

Sanel Huskić has worked as policy analyst in the field of development for two years. His work he performs in ACIPS (Alumni Association of the center for Interdisciplinary Studies) for various international and domestic clients. He is spe-cialized for policies in field of poverty reduction and sector development strategies such as rural development and tourism. Šejla Mujanović

Šejla Mujanović was born on 2nd of May 1979 in Tuzla. As a World Vision Youth Ambassador 1997 she represented B&H in a WVYA program “Seek Life’s Com-mon Grounds”. Aim of the Program, held in the USA, Taiwan, Guatemala & Japan, was to study and promote reconciliation and humanitar-ian work, for which Miss Mujanovic received Special Congressional Recognition of the United States Congress.Sejla Mujanovic graduated at two faculties of the University of Sarajevo: the Law Faculty in Sarajevo earning a De-gree in Law, and the Music Academy in Sarajevo, earning a Degree in Musicology. After completing her studies she worked as an audit assistant in KPMG B&H for audit. Since 2005 she works for USAID, Sida and EKN Governance Accountability Project (GAP) as Legal Policy Advisor concerning local self-governance reform. Cur-rently, she is a student of the post-graduate studies at the Law Faculty in Sarajevo, and also an associate member of Foreign Policy Initiative of B&H.
